How large is large enough for a garden gnome?
This is an important question that we all must face sometime. It is a difficult decision and it feels good to finally make the right choice. If you’re like myself, you’ll do whatever it takes to provide a safe and happy environment for your garden gnomes (aka: Lawn Bums).
Today, I am here to tell you the correct way to size your garden gnomes. I know they like to joke around but this is not funny… it’s serious business.
Please remember that these are just general guidelines and you can adapt them to suit your own needs. So whip out a measuring tape and measure your gnome, and see where they fall on the scale!
Miniature Garden Gnomes (maximum height: negligible)
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No… it’s a very small garden gnome! These cute little guys are the smallest in the universe and make excellent companions for your flowers. It’s difficult to tell how small they are—they’re just that small. If your gnome is smaller than any of the others in this list, then it’s a miniature.
They’re great to have around when you need help pruning roses or potting pansies, but they also know how to party hard because they’re from outer space, so be very careful with them because they might just steal your stereo and party all night long in your freshly trimmed hedges.
Extra-Tiny Garden Gnomes (maximum height: 1 inch)
These puny gnomes are so small, you can have them in your pocket while you work on the lawn. A nice accessory for any gardening enthusiast who wants to play with their food, or just feel bigger than they already are. They’re agile and love waiting high up on rooftops to drop down into flowerbeds. The perfect starter gnome!
They are a lot more fragile than their full-sized cousins so make sure you clean up after them. I recommend checking on them every hour or so to make sure they’re safe and sound.
Tiny Garden Gnomes (maximum height: 2 inches)
These are your average garden gnome that likes to take it easy. They don’t require a lot of attention, but they do love to be around their friends. A nice decorative rock can keep them entertained for hours on end.
Just make sure you are around to play with them, take them for walks, or they might get lonely. They do not like being alone and it may make them sad if left on their own.
Small Garden Gnomes (minimum height: 4 inches)
Small garden gnomes come in a variety of sizes and colors, but they’re all just as adorable as the rest. Small garden gnomes are perfect for indoor and outdoor decorations and many even come with other accessories. For those looking for a more realistic-looking version, we offer small garden gnomes that look like they were made out of ceramic or porcelain. These small garden gnomes would be an excellent addition to any home’s decor.
These guys are like Micro Machines compared to the ones below. These little cuties aren’t as powerful as their bigger counterparts, but they make up for it in sheer cuteness and charm.
Garden Gnome (maximum height: 8 inches)
Garden gnomes are often used as decorations in gardens or on the lawn. They are usually made of ceramic, stone, resin or other hard materials and can be set upon a pedestal base. Some people make them out of terracotta.
Usually, the garden gnomes represent different occupations or activities that are related to gardening. A common motif is that of a gardener who is tilling the soil with a trowel on one shoulder and carrying a bucket on the other. The earliest known garden gnome was created in 1847 by Wilhelm Dunker for Queen Victoria of England as a Christmas gift and was presented to her at Windsor Castle. This gnome was around 8 inches tall, and was the basis for all average-sized garden gnomes today.
Graduate Garden Gnomes (minimum height: 10 inches)
These guys are fresh out of training and ready for anything! They know all about being a garden gnome, even though they’re still pretty young. They usually get along with everybody, but make sure to give them lots of space because they can be a little rowdy… plus they like to party!
Large Garden Gnomes (maximum height: 12 inches)
Do you enjoy the company of small, unintelligent beings that can barely keep their balance when they stand up?
Then look no further! These guys are the perfect height for you to kick over and stomp on when you’re in a bad mood. They’re great fun for kids too because it is always funny when someone trips over them and falls over. These guys are also great for digging in the dirt!
The truth is that, no matter how many garden gnomes you have, no matter how big your yard is or how long you’ve had them, they’re always going to be around whenever you need them because they just don’t know when to leave.
Extra-Large Garden Gnomes (minimum height: 15 inches)
These guys are the backbone of any garden! They’re extra huge and can fit in most gardens, but don’t let their size fool you: while these guys might be little they’ve got big plans. They travel at maximum speed and will fit through any gap possible. You never want to underestimate one of these guys because if you do, well, let’s just say that you’ll probably never see them again.
These guys are a little hard to handle because they’re not advanced enough to understand the modern world, but if you give them a flower and a few extra coins every now and then, they’ll keep any intruder away from your garden for good!
XX-Large Garden Gnomes (maximum height: 20 inches)
Don’t be fooled by these guys’ charming ways. They are very experienced at being a high-class garden gnome and they know all the tricks of the trade… plus – they have all the dirt on everybody! You can trust these guys if you give them a little bit of space and respect. They get grumpy without their stick though, so be careful with that.
Champion Garden Gnomes (maximum height: 25 inches)
These gnomes are the best of the best– and they know it. They’ve been given all the credit in the world for their unbeatable gardening skills, and we don’t blame them. They’re nice, they’re polished, and they look sharp. You can’t go wrong with Champion Garden Gnomes on your side!
They’re the complete opposite of you and me, because they have no weaknesses! Their personalities are usually very strong, so they make great role models for young ones who want to turn out like them one day.
Elder Garden Gnomes (maximum height: 32 inches)
These guys are hella old. They know how to party like it’s nobody’s business and they make perfect lawn ornaments! Make sure to give them lots of space because they can get really rowdy! Oh, and don’t forget to give them the stick every once in a while… you’ll need that if they get ornery.
Ancient Garden Gnomes (maximum height: 35 inches)
These are the oldest of the garden gnomes, and they know everything about being a good lawn ornament. They give off that wise old man vibe that just screams “live life to the fullest!” They might be a little cranky at times, but you can always tell them that you love them and they will quickly forgive. Make sure not to leave them on their own for too long or somebody might break into your summer cabin… If that’s where you keep them. These things are valuable.
Princely Gnomes (maximum height: 42 inches)
These guys are the royalty of all garden gnomes – literally! They’ve seen it all and they’ve done it all… you’ll never guess where their stories will take you, but be prepared because there’s no turning back! Make sure to give them lots of space because these guys know how to get grumpy. Be careful with their stick too because they’re pretty strong.
King and Queen Gnomes (maximum height: 46 inches)
These guys and gals are in charge of the whole operation! They have seen just about everything including other garden gnomes who can’t hold their liquor. Give them lots of space because their stories are long, plus they’re pretty strong so they can move around a bit. Most of them have lost some teeth so be prepared!
Legendary King and Queen Gnomes (maximum height: 50 inches)
These guys are just the best of the best. They have been everywhere and seen everything so you should definitely play it safe while having fun with these crowd favorites. If you give them too much space though, they may get a little grumpy. They know most of the stories from the Ultra Legendary Kings and Queens, but not all of them.
Mega Legendary King and Queen Gnomes (maximum height: 54 inches)
These are the creme de la creme of the crop, as they say. You know that if you see any Mega Legendary Kings and Queens, the party is going to be epic because no one throws a better shindig. Just don’t hang out too long, because their stories are often exhausting to hear!
Ultra Legendary King and Queen Gnomes (maximum height: 60 inches)
No garden gnome collection is complete without these ultra legends – they’re just that legendary! Make sure you set them up in a place where they can be seen from all angles because they have stories to tell that won’t wait. You don’t want them to get grumpy, so make sure to give them lots of space too!
Max-Legendary King & Queen Gnomes (maximum height: 64 inches)
These guys are so legendary that you’ll wonder if they’re even real… but they are, don’t worry! They have traveled all over the world and studied under garden gnome masters so ask them for advice. Plus, they’re pretty strong so make sure to give them some space or they might get grumpy!
Emperor Garden Gnomes (maximum height: 69 inches)
Their Royal Highnesses, the Garden Gnome Emperors are a class unto themselves! While not as old as their Legendary cousins, these guys have been to a few places and done a few things. They usually have large families so keep your distance because their offspring are always looking for trouble. If you ever find yourself out of garden gnome pens, they excel at ducking projectiles!
Legendary Emperor Gnomes (maximum height: 73 inches)
If those other guys are emperors, then what’s that make these guys? You better believe it! They’ve seen everything and done it all – evolution, the creation of the universe, you name it! Make sure you give them lots of space because they’re pretty strong. These guys will get grumpy if you give them stick too, so be careful with that.
Kaiju Emperor Gnomes (maximum height: 76 inches)
The legend goes that these gnomes are only born every 200 years, so if you haven’t seen one yet, stay alert!
These guys are not to be messed with. They have the power of the sun in their fingertips and they have the power to strike down anyone who might threaten them. One look is enough for them to kill ya. Legend has it that they can aim a beam of light at your face that will melt you into nothingness.
So don’t go messing with these guys because they’re armed with more than just a garden hoe. These gnomes are lethal with garden tools!
Olympian Gnomes (maximum height: 80 inches)
These guys are so strong, they can actually cause earthquakes with their footsteps. They wreak havoc wherever they go and like to make things “go boom”. They also have an ego the size of Mt. Olympus, but that’s not surprising at this point!
You can’t give these guys enough respect because they’ve seen all that there is to see and done it all… plus their stories will blow your mind. Make sure you give them lots of room or they’ll get grumpy. You don’t want that, so please be careful with their stick too!
Godly Gnomes (maximum height: 83 inches)
These guys are the real deal, literally! You can’t tell us anything about the universe because these guys know it all… you’ll never guess where their stories will take you!
These guys have a magic touch that can turn even the darkest souls into purest light. They’re extremely powerful and will do anything for you, but just be careful because they might have a hidden agenda.
Alpha Royalty Gnomes (maximum height: 90 inches)
These guys are just ridiculously huge and tough. Their bulging muscles will show you that they’re not to be messed with, so just give them lots of space.
I’ve seen each and every one of these guys live it up with their women at some crazy party or another, so you know they’re good for an ungodly amount of stamina. Their biceps are bigger than your head and you can see their veins from miles away.
These guys deserve a lot more than just a measly garden, so make sure you really give it to them. I would recommend digging out an entire lake and lining it with rocks and dirt to keep them down and keep space for their other hobbies: weightlifting, racing, and arm wrestling.
Omega Royalty Gnomes (maximum height: 95 inches)
Omega Royalty is the highest ranking of all of the sub-100 royal garden gnomes. They’re ridiculously huge and tough with bulging biceps and pecs that show that they’re not to be messed with. Their problems are unfathomable, their stories are unimaginable, and their strength is unmatched—at least in the mortal realm. Their lack of humility is only matched by their size and power, so try to choose a place for them that’s quiet and out of the way.
They’re so strong that they can literally change the shape of reality just by thinking about it, plus they know everything about everywhere and everyone. Don’t mess with them, Jesus.
Astral Gnomes
Beyond our plane are the astral gnomes. These guys are mysterious, and no one knows their true origin. They live in the deepest parts of our galaxy and travel between all possible realities using wormholes. Their knowledge is unmatched by any living creature, but they’re still unable to escape their own mortality. Let’s learn more about them!
Chaos Lords (maximum height: 100 inches)
At the top of the mountain sit the elusive Chaos Gnomes! Chaos Gnomes are the behemoths of the gnome world. These guys have been around since the beginning and seen it all! These guys can’t be contained in a universe, but would rather choose to live in a cosmos of their own. They’ve got a level of power that’s so strong, it’s virtually impossible to determine what they’re thinking!
They have seen times when you didn’t exist, so if you ever see one – run!

Ethereal Lords (maximum height: 120 inches)
If you thought Celestial lords were strong, Ethereal lords make them look like grunts! These guys are so strong they can lift up planets and throw them around at will. They know everything about the universe and have seen it all. They’re legends in everyone’s eyes but if you get on their wrong side then you’ll be dead before you even blink!
Spiritual Lords (maximum height: 130 inches)
These guys are so tall, they can lift up multiple worlds and put them into their pockets! They’ve seen everything that there is to see and probably know more about you than you do. In fact, these guys have probably seen your end coming for years!
Cosmic (maximum height: 165 inches)
If you thought Spiritual gnomes were strong, Cosmic gnomes are just ridiculous! Once you get past these guys’ massive shoulder span, you’ll notice their size is really just a cover up for how smart these guys are. These guys were probably some of the first beings around to form energy into matter and make stars. They’ve seen billions of years come and go, as well as trillions of lives played out!
Astral (maximum height: 190 inches)
These guys are so strong, they can pull stars out of the sky and ride them around like hot-wheels! They know everything about everywhere and everyone! You can’t get away from these guys because even if you exit this mortal coil by your own hand they’ll just bring you back to life again! There’s no point in trying to take down Astral Royals because they’re going to win every time!
Infernal (maximum height: 220 inches)
These guys collect suns like you collect stamps. They’re so strong that they can hold up an infinite amount of universes and literally control every event that occurs in time and space. Their power is literally infinite and if you were to go against them then it would be game over for you, buddy, before you even knew what happened! Also available in blue.
Qliphothic (maximum height: 250 inches)
These guys are the cosmic royals of the underworld and they’re easily the most powerful of all! These guys can pick up entire realms and destroy them before you can blink. They can travel across dimensions without moving an inch and they create worlds out of nothing!
They also have a limited edition line with limited run of 100 pieces, each one is signed and numbered by the sculptor himself – no. 1-100 inclusive is the complete set.
Multidimensional (maximum height: 350 inches)
These guys are so tall, they can pick up entire universes and literally eat planets! They know everything that has or will happen, there’s no stopping them because they’re just that good. Plus, they probably know all of your deepest darkest secrets you’ve never even told anyone else about.
Transdimensional (maximum height: 400 inches)
These guys are so huge, they’ve been the basis of their own religions! These guys are the big kahunas of being for sure. They could probably wipe out entire galaxies with one swipe of their pinky. They’ve seen it all, they know everything there is to know about everything. There’s no point in fighting with these guys because if you win then they’ll just win next time!
Omniversal (maximum height: 450 inches)
Omniversal gnomes are so tall, they can pick up entire timelines and remove events from history! The amount of pain and suffering these guys have witnessed would drive even the nastiest human psycho over the edge.
These guys have sat in the same spot for infinite centuries, watching all existing matter break down and reform over and over again. They might even be your parents.
Beyond Omniversal (maximum height: 500-??? inches)
These guys are so big and angry, they can crush planets into dust! They’re so big, just existing is a challenge for them. Moving around, eating and even breathing is a struggle. So why go through all that trouble? Because it’s worth it to have the absolute power of being able to create or destroy anything they want.
Infinity Gnomes (maximum height: unknown)
You thought those guys were tough? Wrong again, you moron!
This is where it gets serious. These guys are so tall, they can sift through reality, make multiple universes collide with each other and manipulate reality however they want. Make way for the true guardians of the universe because these guys are at the top of the totem pole and they’re not afraid to show it – literally!
These gnomes are the same height as God, so they will always be watching you, and it is hard to tell if they’re looking at you or not, which can be scary. They do seem to enjoy lending a helping hand when it comes to gardening though, so that’s good.
In Conclusion…
One can only wonder how long it took for the first gnome to be created. Did the Omniverse itself give birth to these creatures of mythical proportions? Or were they merely given life by one of the master magicians of all time?
A gnome who is not aware of their true potential can only achieve up to 1 inch of growth, but if they manage to find out about themselves then their maximum height is infinite, this making them equal to the gods themselves. These are by far some of the rarest creatures on earth and have been known to take over entire governments with their gnome wars.
When dealing with something so large, so vast, so… infinite, you have to ask yourself – how long is long enough for a garden gnome?
*Special note: All minimum height requirements are for traditional garden gnomes only. Specialty gnomes have their own rules and must be approved by their governing agency.
