As part of a series I’ve been writing on oddities in the world of online shopping, this week I went to the website www.lovelygardengnomes.com and ordered a gnome from their collection. Unfortunately what I received was quite different… and if anything, even more sinister.
The gnome was supposed to be the classic depiction of a small green man with red hat and beard, but what arrived looked nothing like this:
Heavily weathered and sporting decayed flesh and huge fang-like teeth, it seems clear that whoever sent this abomination did not order a gnome.
I returned it to the merchant, but I’ve yet to hear back from them about an exchange or refund.
